Ingredients
- 3 sticks (1 1/2 cups) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
Make and Chill the Dough
In a large bowl, cream the room-temperature butter and sugar together with a mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy. This will take a few minutes.
Add the flour and mix on low speed until the dough starts to form clumps. Turn the mixture out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together into a smooth ball.
Roll the dough out to a 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out your desired shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Chill the cut-out cookies on the baking sheet for at least 30 minutes. This step is key to preventing the cookies from spreading.
Bake the Cookies at 325F
Preheat your oven to 325°F.
Bake the chilled cookies for ~13-16 minutes. The edges should be just beginning to turn a light golden brown, but the centers should still be pale.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
